First look: Cover: Deliverance Lost

Hello All!

So, Black Library Live! 2011 has been and gone for another year and what a great day it was - it was great to meet up with all those who enjoy the books, hobby and artwork.

A big THANKYOU for making all the hard work feel worthwhile.

Many folk saw the new Corax artwork for 'Deliverance Lost' by Gav Thorpe and Black Library have now put the final (lo-res) image up for your enjoyment and scrutiny:

(Above)
Corax in orbital drop.
The brief wanted an Art Deco hanging garden city
something we've never really seen in 40K before

Thankfully the artwork has gone down a storm. It was inspired by a specially commissioned illustration by John Blanche - Corax has never been seen before, so who better to define his look ;)

(Above: Detail)
I was inspired by the idea of a 'Dark Knight' style
base-jump mixed with 'Star Trek' orbital drop.
WHOOOSH!

Anyway, here you go - feast thine eyes upon it and feel free to leave a comment.

See you soon!

Awesome as always.
I have to know what is your goto art program/s? and why do you feel it is better?

Could you tell me what color do you color your Sons of Horus armor?

Thanks, Patrick!

BigWill - I use Photoshop to paint the covers and a bit of 3DSMax to do any complicated 3D work. The Sons of Horus armour was *looks it up in Photoshop* - RGB: 130, 142, 128. Hope that's of help! N

Greetings Mr Elbows. I absolutely love your work. As a fan boy of the Raven Guard, thank you for upping the cool on Corax.

I have a question about another piece of work you did but can not find it on the blog, so i will ask here if its ok?

Age of Darkness.... On the cover it looks like Horus. My question. Is it really Roboute Guilliman? The Eyes look a bit small and close together for Horus.. Please don't take it the wrong way.

Hi Yarcoon,

Thanks, nice to meet people who collect, play and read the hobby!

I've just added a post about the Age of Darkness cover - thanks for reminding me ;)

And, Yes, it is my version of Horus - just not totally twisted with evil-ness yet...
